Rebuilding Together Howard County is growing and delivering more services than ever before. It is important to note the growth our organization has experienced since 2010. Back then, we provided no cost home repairs to about 15 homeowners using an all-volunteer work force on a single day of the year. Now, we repair approximately 150 homes throughout the year using 15% volunteers and 85% professional contractors. Regarding Home Modifications, Rebuilding Together is the go-to organization for seniors or individuals with disabilities who need mobility support i.e., wheel chair ramps, grab bars, railings, stair lifts, to name a few. Plus, we are proud of our mobile home initiative. In 2010, our mobile home repairs were basic but now we have the capability to totally rehabilitate mobile homes installing new roofs, windows, floors, HVAC systems, kitchens, bathrooms and the list goes on. We also offer Handyman and Urgent repairs.
In 2010, these services were not available. Helping clients in need that include veterans, disabled individuals, families with small children and the elderly attempting to age in place is a gratifying experience. Our teams of volunteers and contractors transform homes from unhealthy and unsafe places to live to vibrant homes and thriving communities. Who could have foreseen in 2010 that nine years later, during a pandemic, we would demolish the home of an Ellicot City flood victim and build a new home for an elderly couple.
What’s next? Our focus is on capacity building and continued, sustainable growth with the goal of being able to help more and more low-income homeowners achieve their dream of a safe and healthy home.
