Rebuilding Together Howard County was formed in 1992 when a group of committed Howard County Residents and businesses joined together to mobilize volunteers and provide free home repairs to low-income families in Howard County. Today, Rebuilding Together Howard County has repaired and renovated over 1,450 homes in Howard County- at no cost to the homeowner.
About Rebuilding Day
Formed in 1992, Rebuilding Together Howard County was an organization powered solely by volunteers. Today, eighty percent of our critical home repairs are provided by professional contractors and twenty percent by teams of volunteers. The majority of our volunteer teams work at our signature event, entitled Rebuilding Day. Our Spring Rebuilding Day is held each year on the last Saturday in April.
In addition, we host a Fall Rebuilding Day. Never in our history of Rebuilding Days have we had so many volunteers as we did this year at our Spring Workday held on Saturday, April 27th, 2024. That day over 500 volunteers wearing their Rebuilding Together t-shirts came out to provide critical repairs to 22 homes of low-income homeowners. The types of repairs included carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and landscaping.
New floors were installed as well as appliances replaced. As a result, the homes were transformed by the volunteers into safer and healthier places to live. Our volunteer teams come from churches, corporations, regional builders, local synagogues, Rotary Clubs, Ski Clubs and even Leadership Howard County.
Special thanks to the generous organizations and strong volunteers for giving back to the community and helping their neighbors in needs. Check out picture below of our amazing volunteers in action helping the community.
