We are partnering with Lowe’s to help neighbors in need right here in Howard County. September 15 – 16th, 2018 marks this year’s Rebuild-a-Block program where volunteers will be restoring homes and a community center in Howard County, Maryland.
The Rebuild-a-Block program spans four states and four Rebuilding Together affiliates, marking the ten year partnership with Lowe’s. Locally, RTHC and Lowe’s will provide home repairs at no cost to five homeowners in Howard County as well as much-needed repairs to the Athelas Institute, a Columbia non-profit serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Work planned for Rebuild-a-Block includes:
- Repair leaking toilets
- Replace windows
- Replace broken doors
- Bring electric up to code to prevent fire hazard
- Replace basement flooring and sewage line
- Interior and exterior paint
- Repair leak in the ceiling
- Replace kitchen and bathroom floors
- Repair drainage in basement
- Repair kitchen sink to prevent leaks
In 2017, Lowe’s and the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation contributed more than $39 million to improve communities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. 100% of Lowe’s U.S. stores participated in the Lowe’s Heroes volunteer program in 2017 logging more than 200,000 volunteer hours. Rebuilding Together will be hosting Lowe’s Heroes from the local Howard County Lowe’s stores who will be volunteering their time during Rebuild-a-Block.
We are so thankful for the financial and volunteer support Lowe’s has provided to help our neighbors in need. Through this support, we are able to transform the lives of low-income, elderly and disabled residents of Howard County. These home repairs enable homeowners to continue to live in the communities they love, keeping our neighborhoods whole.
